The Koningsdam offers several casual specialty dining options
The Dive-In features grilled burgers on toasted brioche buns, gourmet hot dogs and crispy French fries.
The New York Deli & Pizza features specialty sandwiches or custom-made thin-crust pies. This complimentary venue features signature 9-inch pizzas or a “build your own” option that are made to order, as well as two signature salads.
The Grand Dutch Cafe features Dutch-themed snacks and beverages, with Heineken beer on tap. Snacks are complimentary for guests ordering a beverage.
Gelato features several gelato flavors each day, with a rotation of options depending on the ship’s location. Homemade ice cream, popsicles, waffle cones, sundaes, floats, shakes and malts also are served at this poolside venue. Gelato’s treats are available for a charge.

Our Casual Dining Experience
On two sea days during our cruise. we went to Afternoon Tea in the Main Dining Room. The tables were preset with assorted finger sandwiches, scones, cakes, and pastries. Tea was served after being seated. The tea Afternoon Tea was fine, but not as elaborate as some of the Holland America High Teas of years past.
We also indulged in some of the other casual dining venues on both sea and port days.
Marney and I both enjoyed the wonderful Cannonball. Burger with fries at the Dive-In, which on our first visit was outstanding, but on our second visit was cold even though we responded immediately to the Dive-In pager.
We really liked the Brooklyn Sub at the New York Deli & Pizza. It was so good that we returned on another day and found it to be equally excellent. I was not as impressed with the Pizzas. Perhaps it would have been better if I had gone with a Build Your Own Pizza instead of a slice of their already made Pizza.
We loved the Dutch Pea Soup (Erwtensoep) and Dutch Hot Chocolate drink at the Grand Dutch Cafe.
I had a shake at the Gelato. It was fine but expensive. In our experience we prefer the free and excellent ice cream served in the Lido Market to the extra-charge Gelato served in the Gelato venue.
There obviously there is a wide range of food available throughout the day at the numerous Koningsdam dining venues.
